5th Annual Rainier Revisited (April 2014)

The Year is 1853, put on by the Rainier History Club

We were pleased to make it back for our 5th year with the students and participants of the Rainier History Club.   Erika Hein rejoined us again as this year's apprentice for her last time as she will be graduating this year.  Good luck and thanks for being a great apprentice!  Erika  continued improving her nail making and was able to forge an "S" hook by the end of the day.  Our granddaughter Emery joined us again and had a great time trying everything out and meeting people.   Gary and Jody

Stagecoach Trip -Mitchell, Or. 2009

2009 Central Oregon Stagecoach Run: Mitchell to Fossil to Condon

In 2009we were privileged to be  part of a stagecoach run through parts of Central Oregon we had never seen.  The stage run began in John Day but we caught up with them in the little town of Mitchell ( where we met Bob Rock ).  The pictures show some of the towns of Mitchell, Fossil and Condon ( home of the Gilliam Co. Museum), the stage and it's cavalry outriders, and some beautiful Painted Hills scenery.  These small towns welcomed us and brought their school kids out to see us and learn a bit about history.  After leaving the stage run in Condon we traveled up through Shaniko to The Dalles and demonstrated at the Fort Dalles Museum for Historic The Dalles Days and to celebrate the arrival of the 2009 Sesquicentennial Statehood Wagon Train.  I actually got to set up under a "Spreading Chestnut Tree!"
